CHURCH MEMBERSHIP

Membership is the covenant we make with one another as a church

Every member of New Life Church agrees to remain true to the faith, engage with our church family, and be a part of our mission. Biblically, belonging to a local church body is essential for faithful followers of Jesus.

Members shall have the duties and responsibilities that are found in Scripture and are consistent with the Statement of Faith, including, but not limited to:

-Share in fulfilling the purpose of the church

- Serve in the ministry of the church

- Support the testimony and essential doctrine of the church

- Faithfully attend the services of the church

- Give regularly to support the church financially

- Protect the unity of the body

- Submit to the authority of the Shepherds

Members of the church are those who meet the following terms:

- Belief in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, and public acknowledgment thereof

- Repentance and the decision to accept Jesus Christ as the Lord of one’s life and to obey His revealed will

- Baptism by immersion in water in obedience to Jesus Christ and in keeping with Christ’s example and teachings found in the New Testament

You can become a member of New Life Church by one of 2 ways:

1. Be baptized at New Life Church (more info here)

2. If you have already been baptized by immersion at another church, you can request to be a member.

New Life Church Membership Form

I AM A CHURCH MEMBER.
• It’s not a membership like in a civic organization or country club. It’s the kind of membership given to us in 1 Corinthians 12:27 “Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it.” Because I am a member of the body of Christ, I must be a functioning member, whether I am an “eye,” an “ear,” or a “hand.” As a functioning member, I will give. I will serve. I will minister. I will evangelize. I will study. I will seek to be a blessing to others. I will remember that “if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it: if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.” (1 Corinthians 12:26).

• I will seek to be a source of unity at New Life. I know there are no perfect church members. But neither am I. I will not be a source of gossip, division or dissension. One of the greatest contributions I can make is to do all I can to help keep unity in the body of Christ for the sake of the gospel.

• I will not let New Life be about my preferences and desires. That is self-serving. I am in the church to serve Christ. I am in the church to serve others. Jesus went to the cross for me. I can deal with any inconveniences, preferences or styles for Him.

• I will lead my family to be faithful members of New Life. We will pray together for New Life. We will worship together at New Life. We will serve together with New Life. And we will ask God to help us fall deeper in love with New Life, because Jesus gave His life for the church.

• I have accepted the free gift of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and I have been baptized (immersed) into his death, burial and resurrection. As a result, I am a part of the body of Christ. And now I am humbled and honored to serve and to love others in the church. I pray that I will never take my membership for granted but see it as a gift and an opportunity to be a part of something so much greater than any one person or member.
