Being Faithful Now

What do we do when faithfulness feels pointless? When the culture around us keeps drifting further from God, when evil seems to be winning, and when standing up for truth only earns us awkward silences and strange looks -- do we speak up, or do we wait for better times? This message takes us deep into one of the most turbulent seasons in Israel's history, found in 1 Kings 16 and 17, where a nation had been sliding into idolatry for generations under a succession of wicked kings. Into that darkness steps Elijah, a man whose very name means 'the Lord is God,' and whose first recorded act is to walk straight into the throne room of the most evil king Israel had ever seen and declare a word from God that would shake the entire nation. There were no signs of change on the horizon. There was no indication that anyone was ready to listen. And yet Elijah was faithful anyway. His story confronts us with a truth we often resist: the time to be faithful is not when circumstances improve. It is now. God does not call us to wait for the right moment. He calls us to trust that He is already working, even when we cannot see it.
