Family Promise

Family Promise of Odessa, Inc. is an interfaith non-profit network of several congregations and dozens of volunteers working together to provide shelter, meals and support services to homeless families in order to help them achieve lasting independence.  These families usually have lost a job or gotten behind in their rent and find themselves without a place to live. Family Promise organizes area churches like New Life to provide them a week each quarter that they come and "live" at our building.  They are expected to find a job if they don’t have one and save most of their money.

Family Promise of Odessa, Inc. began operation in January, 2010 and is one of 152 networks in 39 states and the District of Columbia, with more than 125,000 volunteers in 5,000 plus churches and synagogues serving more than 45,000 children and adults. Nationwide 80% of the families that are served go on to long-term housing.  In the last two years, Family Promise of Odessa has helped 17 family units, 19 adults and 33 children find a permanent place to call home.
