The New Life Story

For several years prior to 2005, the Golf Course Road Church of Christ in Midland, Texas had been feeling God’s call to plant a church.  At the same time, a Christian Church organization out of California (Stadia) was feeling God’s call to unite with the Churches of Christ for the historic purposes of working together to plant a church.
At the same time, Tim and Melinda Halstead from The Woodlands, Texas and Ben and Trisha Wall from Tyler, Texas were feeling God’s call to step out of traditional churches and, in faith, become church planters.
Only God  could’ve turned what appeared to be four very individual Callings into a common effort in the Permian Basin.  Only God had the wisdom and the power and the resources to bring these four groups of servants together at this time and in this place to accomplish His purpose.

Summer 2005, the Halsteads and the Walls moved their families to Odessa, Texas to partner with the Golf Course Road Church of Christ and Stadia to plant a new, grace-filled, second-chance church in Odessa, Texas on September 11, 2005.  Since then, there have been the inevitable changes in staff, but what has remained is God’s consistent faithfulness.  Coy Greathouse joined our team in 2009 and currently serves as our Worship Leader.  Amanda Thompson came to us in 2012 and serves as our Children’s Minister.  July, 2013, we added Jeremiah Foley to our team and Jeremiah serves as our Youth Minister.  Derie and Don Tohkubbi each work part-time in various areas and, with this full complement of staff and an army of volunteers, it is our goal to reach out to those in Odessa without a church home -- a number which exceeds 50,000 people.
